Mary Stade (formerly of Score Sports Management) is a principle of Half-Court Sports Int’l, joining her business partner Jock White. She has been a professional basketball sports agent since November 9, 2001, at which time she was awarded her Certificate of Completion from Pro Sports Group. She began her sports agent career representing Oregon State’s Center Todd Marshall, who had a successful run in the 2002 LA Summer Pro League, and went on to have a longstanding career in Switzerland. She also represented numerous local basketball players from the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. In November of 2003, Mary was awarded the Portland, Oregon territory for the American Basketball Association. She made history by becoming the League’s first female professional basketball team owner, and was the founder and mastermind of the Portland Reign. The Reign fielded some of the most notable players in developmental league history. These players included: UNVL Guard Terrance Green (nephew of A.C. Green); Oregon State Guard Brandon Payton (brother of Gary Payton); Mississippi State University Power Forward Lincoln Smith, Korea Center Ha Seung-jin (46th overall NBA draft pick by the Portland Trail Blazers). In 2005, the Portland Reign became the International Basketball League Portland Chinooks. Mary continued her involvement with the team as its General Manager. The Portland Chinooks team, recruited and assembled by Mary, made it to the 2005 IBL Championships, losing to the Tacoma Thunder. Mary became the General Manager of the 2006 Tacoma Thunder. Mary’s Client List over the years has included such notables as : UNLV’s Terrance Green; Portland State University’s Blake Walker, Antone Jarrell and William Funn; Mississippi State University’s Lincoln Smith , Edinboro’s Kenny Tate and Tennessee State’s Kareem Grant. Players represented by Mary over the years have played in China, Switzerland, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, and Saudi Arabia. In addition to her sports agent business, Mary has worked in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area’s legal community for over 25 years. Mary’s 14 plus years in the professional basketball business as an agent, team owner and general manager has networked her with many domestic, international and NBA contacts. She is a platinum member of Pro Sports Group, affiliated with Sports Management Worldwide, an associate member of the Multnomah Bar Association, and her FIBA certification is pending upon testing in Miami, FL in October of 2015. Personal: Proud grandmother of Miles, and proud dog owner/lover of Tyson; enjoys running (Portland Marathon medalist 2009), golf and of course, basketball.
