The 16th annual dinner and auction, with proceeds to benefit the Georgia Tech baseball program, will begin at 6:30 p.m. with registration, reception and silent auction, and dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $80 per person, $60 for Georgia Tech baseball alumni and $700 for a table of 10. Price of admission for students in high school or below will be $50.
In addition to the dinner and keynote speaker, attendees will have a chance to meet the 2011 team and take part in both live and silent auctions in the hotel ballroom.
Boras is the founder, owner and president of the Boras Corporation, a sports agency that represents roughly 175 professional baseball clients, including many of the game’s top players. Boras has represented many former Georgia Tech players over the years, including current big leaguers Mark Teixeira, Jason Varitek, Matt Wieters, Eric Patterson and Tyler Green, among others.
Boras continues a tradition of popular baseball figures to speak at the dinner. Major League stars Jeff Francoeur, Jason Varitek, Mark Teixeira, Chipper Jones, former players Nomar Garciaparra and John Smoltz, managers Tommy Lasorda, Joe Torre, Jimy Williams and Sparky Anderson, general managers Cam Bonifay and John Schuerholz, as well as former ESPN analyst Peter Gammons have been featured in the past.
